Painting with Earth - Peter Ward
14th June 2025 - 11-5pm
For 20 years, Peter Ward has worked almost exclusively with ochre from southwest England, his ancestral matrilineal home, sharing his work through painting, workshops, publications and poetry, delivering knowledge and inspiration for many with interest in this growing field of creative expression.
‘Whatever we believe about the condition of the contemporary world, contact with the materials and processes with which it is made can only further enrich and inform our lives.’says Peter.
Peter currently lives in West Cornwall.
During this one-day workshop Peter will introduce us to the pigments themselves and explain how to find and gather them, as well as demonstrating the different ways they can be turned into paint.
In the afternoon we will make paints from the pigments and create our own paintings.
Peter has written some wonderful informative books on the subject, that are full of many photographs of his process and work, as well as his moving and powerful poetry.
The books will be available to view and buy on the day and Peter will also be exhibiting some of his beautiful artwork, some of which will be for sale.
I am very excited to be having Peter Ward come and visit the studio and lead this workshop.
